Bill Meier

Bill resides in Corfu, NY with his wife and three children. For 30 years he has worked at a hydraulic machine shop as his main job career. His experience on the job has given him the knowledge of designing and making his own woodturning tools. He also designed and built his own lathe which he has created most of his turnings on.
When he started his wood turning career 13 years ago, he became a member of the Pembroke Woodturners Guild. When Bill first began to turn, his interest was primarily with large pieces such as bowls, vases and hollow forms. Now he enjoys turning many smaller, more delicate projects including finials, bird houses, wooden eggs, ornaments, rolling pins and more.

Bill has been a very active member of the woodturning club serving as the club president for 4 years and is now the current Vice President. He takes much pride in mentoring fellow members and enthusiasts.

Bill keeps up his knowledge of woodturning techniques by attending many workshops and hands on demonstrations and has attended Totally Turning many times. Bill has given many turning demonstrations within his local club, at public events and has volunteered at schools mentoring students. Bill was a feature demonstrator at the 2015 Totally Turning Symposium held in Saratoga Springs, NY where he demonstrated decorative finials.
